lyrics
Everyone thinks I’m an early riser
but they don’t know I never sleep.
When it gets dark I swim to you
and I’ll come back before it’s light
I’ll fight, I’ll fight, I’ll fight.
Don’t let any nets fish me out of doing this
All day did I coast on the name I love the most
I’ll swim through the waves
lighting up the dark, your face
Any pain you will erase
My breath I’ll bate
Don’t let any nets fish me out of doing this
All night did I coast on the name I love the most
When I land
then I can call you mine
you’re mine, mine!
Waves wage war against each other
and I’m caught in between
Waves wage war against each other
and I can’t tell north from south
So keep your light on
My only guide, past dolphins, sharks, and whales
So leave your light on
It’s like a bell, I lasso my hopes to it and swim
Can someone win and someone lose
so the way is clear for me to get through to you?
Only a little further to go…
I was ready to say goodbye
until I spotted your light
Now that I’m here, let the storm rage on
I’m putting my foot down, my foot down
We’ll follow a flashlight up to a cave
We’re living lies, we misbehave
Our families would hate this
We’ll keep it a secret, a secret
Your voice is sweet and low
The loud ocean roars below
The heat wave doesn’t phase us
We’re sweating the big stuff, the big stuff
Well, I was ready to say goodbye
The bee buzzes deeper into the night
It may not be a full-fledged LP, but All Delighted People is probably my favourite of Sufjan's works. Without an overaching album theme to tie the songs together, it felt like Sufjan was free to experiment on each track and give them their own unique sound. And because of that (and Sufjan's talent), every track on there is a standout track. Angkasawan
